Finpace vs. PreciseFP: Client Questionnaires or Client Documents?
Two ways to get client data into your paperwork, compared from each company's own published pages.
On this page
PreciseFP and Finpace both exist to get client information into the paperwork an advisory firm runs on. They come at it from opposite ends. PreciseFP gathers data through engagements your client fills in, built from templates. Finpace starts with the documents your client already has and reads them.
This comparison uses each company’s own published pages, checked on September 18, 2026, and says where PreciseFP is ahead as plainly as where Finpace is.
What PreciseFP is
PreciseFP’s homepage headline reads “AI-Enabled Data Gathering, Built for Financial Advisors” (precisefp.com). The core of it is the engagement: a form or questionnaire you send a client, built from what PreciseFP calls “a library of professional-looking templates for almost any situation” (how it works). Engagements can arrive pre-filled with what you already know, and clients can upload documents inside them.
What it has, from its own pages:
- AI template creation. Its features page describes creating “personalized client forms in moments with AI” (features).
- Custodial forms. Its custodial forms page says its library “includes pre-built templates to engage your clients on the most common custodian/broker-dealer operations”, covering account opening, transfers, ACH authorizations and IRA agreements (custodial forms). Its help center documents Schwab PDF templates (help center).
- Your own PDFs. “Our PDF Mapper lets you upload any PDF form and connect the fields yourself” (custodial forms).
- E-signature. Built-in e-signature fields, and DocuSign as a partner (features, partners).
- A long integration list. CRMs including Redtail, Wealthbox, Salesforce, Practifi and SmartOffice, planning tools such as eMoney, MoneyGuide and RightCapital, and custodian integrations with Schwab and Altruist (partners).
- Reading documents, through a partner. PreciseFP’s own feature pages do not describe pulling data out of documents. Its partner Flextract does: PreciseFP’s news post is titled “Flextract Updates 60+ Fields in PreciseFP from Documents”, and says advisors “can then approve which values to sync” (PreciseFP news).
PreciseFP is owned by Docupace. Its site footer reads ”© 2026 Docupace Technologies”, and docupace.com lists PreciseFP and Hubly among its solutions.
What Finpace is
Finpace does the paperwork for advisory firms, built around one profile per household that everything else fills from.
- Emma reads documents. A client uploads a driver’s license, a tax return or a statement, and Emma pulls the facts into the household’s profile. It is built in, not a partner product.
- Emma maps PDFs. Upload any fillable PDF your firm uses and Emma learns where each field goes. Next time, that form fills itself from the profile. Finpace does not come with a pre-mapped custodian library: you bring your forms, and Emma maps them.
- Webforms ask only what is missing. After the documents are read, the client answers the few questions only they can, on a phone.
- Sign and sync. FinpaceSign is included, DocuSign works too, and records sync both ways with Wealthbox and Redtail, and completed data pushes to Salesforce, HubSpot or Practifi.
- Client portal. Clients sign in with a code sent to their email to upload documents and fix their own details.
The real difference: who does the typing
With a questionnaire-first tool, the client types. Their name, their address, their account numbers, into web fields, from paper they already own. PreciseFP makes that pleasant, pre-fills what you know, and can bring in document data through Flextract.
With a document-first tool, the client uploads the paper and the software does the typing. That is the part of Finpace everything else is built on, and it is why a Finpace client’s job is often just “send us your last statement and your license.”
Neither is wrong. They suit different clients and different firms.

An honest word on price
PreciseFP publishes its prices, which makes this easy to compare (pricing). Standard is $89 a month for one user, 100 account profiles and one team. Each additional user is $49 a month, each additional 100 profiles $15, each additional team $25. Enterprise is custom for businesses with more than 10 employees. There is a 14-day trial, and only monthly prices are published.
Finpace plans start at $129 a month, with unlimited users and unlimited clients on every plan. You pay in credits for the work Emma does, such as reading a document or setting up a new client (pricing).
What that means in practice:
- For a solo advisor, PreciseFP’s list price is lower. One user with 100 clients is $89 a month on PreciseFP against $129 on Finpace Solo.
- As the team grows, per-seat pricing grows with it. Seven people on 100 client profiles comes to $383 a month on PreciseFP’s published pricing. On Finpace, adding people never changes the price.
- Profiles add up too. PreciseFP charges per 100 account profiles. Finpace does not charge for having clients.
- Document reading is a separate product on PreciseFP. Its document extraction comes through Flextract, a partner with its own pricing. On Finpace it is part of the plan.
Our pricing page runs the same published formulas for a few firm sizes side by side.
Which one fits your firm
PreciseFP is a strong choice if you want ready-made custodial templates today, including Schwab, your clients are comfortable completing questionnaires, you rely on integrations Finpace does not have yet, such as Salesforce or Practifi, or you are a small team where per-seat pricing stays low.
Finpace is the better fit if your clients already have the documents and you would rather they upload them than retype them, you use forms beyond the common custodian templates and want them mapped for you, or you want your whole firm on the tool without the bill rising each time you hire.
The fastest way to tell is to try it on your own paperwork. Bring a real client packet to a 15-minute call and watch Emma read the documents and fill it.
